I kinda had the best group of friends in high school.
We did everything together. There was really never any drama. A lot of them felt just like siblings to me. After graduation, we were all spread out for the most part, but I have kept in contact with everyone. Being in Utah, with no home in California anymore, has kept me from seeing them very often. Plus, being Mormon in a group of non-Mormons, almost none of them are married (2 are), and none of them have kids. (Jenna you don't count, haha). So I am definitely in a different phase of life, haha. But I still love these guys so much.
I haven't seen any of the boys since my wedding! 4 years ago!! My ladies came to my California baby shower last summer, so that was wonderful. But I have been looking forward to our 10 year reunion to get to see so many faces that I haven't seen in forever. But theeeeen I got knocked up.
I am totally so happy to be pregnant and this baby was definitely planned, but I just didn't think my due date and my reunion would line up so perfectly, haha. I've been bummed and pretty hormonal about it. It doesn't help that when everyone found out I wasn't going, they all sent me messages and texts begging me to figure something out, haha. But I have accepted my fate. A 10 hour road trip with a newborn and a a toddler while recovering from birth does not sound fun.
In the midst of my bummed-out-ness, Utah got some visitors in the form of 3 of my very best guy friends from high school! I was so excited!!! Ryan and his wife actually just moved out here, which always makes me laugh because why do non-mormons move to Utah? Brett and Brandon came along to see their new place and go skiing. They brought their lady friends (one is a friend from high school as well), and a couple other friends. They invited us over for dinner and hanging out the first night they got there and I was so excited!

Brandon took me to Homecoming our Senior year. This was not at homecoming. I don't know where those pictures are. Stop asking about them, okay?! |

One of the things I loved about my group of friends is that although we all had boyfriends and girlfriends in high school, and people would filter in and out of our group, none of the core of us ever dated each other. So I went as friends with them all to dances, and we would all just switch off. And it never was awkward and isn't awkward years later! Yay!
Anyway, they came and we had so much fun!
It was such a fun night. We got caught up on each other's lives, we laughed about old crap that happened, and I got to know all their girlfriends/wives! Ryan's wife is so cute, and it will be fun to have another friend in Utah. This helped ease my bummed-outness over the reunion. There are still a million people I want to see, but at least I got to see a few! And it gave me hope that non-mormons actually visit Utah sometimes. So now all my old friends just need to come to me!
Sadie was a total ham the whole night, and it was really special to me to see my little girl interacting with people who were such a big part of my growing up. I better go before I get too hormonal and sappy, but I am thankful for old friendships!
