Last weekend we went on the most perfect weekend vacation. I don't know what it was about this trip, but I was just so friggin happy the whole time, haha. We needed this! It's been a crazy summer and it was so wonderful to unwind, just the 4 of us together by the lake. It's also the first real family vacation we've ever been on. Nathan and I went on a few vacations just the two of us before kids, but since having Sadie, we have never been on a vacation that didn't involve visiting family. So this was really fun!
We have the best landlords in the world, and they happen to have a big cabin right up on the lake. They were so sweet and offered to let us use it! We drove up Friday night and got there around 7pm. Sadie was so hyper! She loves being new places and she was just running around the cabin yelling and singing and touching everything. There were stairs in the cabin too, and she loves stairs, haha. She calls them steps and says "step" on each stair. We unpacked and hung out and let the babies stay up super late to watch Toy Story. (Okay, so Jack wasn't actually watching.)
Sadie was so excited about the cabin, that she slept really well. I thought she would be scared to sleep in a weird room by herself but she was stoked, haha. We woke up and the house was cold! It felt like fall time!! We cozied up in blankets and warm clothes and watched TV, and ate donuts and cereal. Then we went out on the back porch and enjoyed the weather. It had warmed up a little, but was still a tiny bit cold, but the sun felt amazing. We played out there for a long time. Sadie found an old Easter egg and was obsessed with it. Whenever we tried to get her to say cheese for a picture she would yell, "egg!!!"
+ By the time we headed out for lunch, it was already really warm. We were having summer and fall all in one day! We went to a cute burger place recommended by my friend, Michelle. We got awesome food and ate outside right next to a playground for Sadie. Then we strapped the babies in, got amazing milkshakes, and went on a long drive through the mountains while the babies slept. Leaves were changing and the colors were so pretty. It was perfect.
+ After naps it was reaaally warm so we spent the rest of the afternoon at the lake. It was perfect!!! There was no one else on the beach. The water was really warm and super shallow so Sadie could run and run. The mud and sand were soft like clay and it was just tons of fun. Sadie loved running and splashing and playing with the mud. Jack even liked the water!

The family selfies ended because Jack grabbed Sadie's bathing suit and she thought it was the best thing ever |

Nathan is such a seashell nerd. He spent hours on our honeymoon just looking for seashells |

cheesy. but I am cheesy. |
+ We came back in after a few hours and talked about a bonfire but decided we were too pooped. We had bath and showers and ordered some pizza and watched a movie. Before dinner and movies I forced everyone to take family pictures because that's just the way I am. They were quick and simple, but I love them. Because I am pretty obsessed with my little family.
The next day I actually took zero pictures, if you can believe it. We had another lazy morning. Nathan took Sadie outside to play while I packed and cleaned up the cabin and Jack slept. It was really peaceful. I miss the cabin already. We took the beautiful drive down to Logan to visit some of my favorite people! Michelle, Ryan, future baby Lindsley, and their sweet doggy Max. I am really mad I didn't take any pictures but just know that Michelle is so cute pregnant and we love each other.
Just sharing these pictures and writing down what we did makes my heart all warm and fuzzy. Maybe one day I'll get down to really writing about why this trip meant so much to me, but just know it was exactly what my heart and soul needed. Best weekend!!!
