Our Love Story pt13: The Homecoming

Previous posts here.

Here we are, at the final love story post.
I can already hear how depressed you are.
This story is incredibly dear to me so I am sorry if I overload you with details.
I've actually never blogged about the specifics,
so I want this documented before the Alzheimer's sets in.
This is also the ending to the love story posts.
If you wanna continue in the story.. then read my blog!

It was 11am on Wednesday December 21, 2011 when I saw Nathan again for the first time.
He had come home the day before while I was stuck in Utah at work.
He was released that night, and I left at 6am the next morning to see him.

He had called me after he was released.
When I answered, he sat in silence because he was so nervous.
Then he said, "Hi!" and we both said hi back and forth like 10 times.
And then the conversation flowed like we had never been apart.

It was just the two of us when we met up, just how I had wanted it.
We were at a park in his home town of Logandale.
I pulled up and he was standing there smiling bigger than I had ever seen.
I got out of the car and like an idiot just said, "Hi!" (We seemed to like that word).

We ran in for a hug and when I pulled back, he kissed me. (So much for awkward RMs).
I don't remember too much of what was said but I remember him telling me he missed my hair and me telling him he smelled like Salt Lake.
Then we went on a drive and talked about all kinds of things.
I spent half my Christmas break in Logandale and he spent half with my family in Arizona.
There were definitely a ton of adjustments and it wasn't always easy, but we were also falling back in love so fast. I knew the adjustments were temporary and I knew we would be just fine.

We rang in the New Year with my family in Arizona and a few hours later he gave me a very special present. A HUGE, FAT RING!

And now we get to live happily ever after!
WAHOOO!!!!

Our Love Story pt12: Two Years Apart

Previous posts here.

I could write a whole blog about how those two years were. (In fact, I did. Refer to my old blog for depressingness).
But I will try my best to sum up the best and craziest 2 years of my life.

First few months (Jan10'-March10'): Crazy mess. Cried a lot and didn't really know how to function. I drove by the MTC almost every single day he was there. The landlord of the place I was living it when to prison for fraud and we had to move in 30 days. Then our heat broke and no one would come fix it without our landlord's permission.. who was in prison. Things started looking up when I found a Facebook support group for missionary girlfriends. (Seriously, I did. And it saved my life. Don't judge me). Met some of my very best friends in that group and things started getting better. I was teaching preschool during the day and going to BYU at night for my Special Ed degree.
Nathan was craaazzzyy into the work! He worked so hard and seriously had no trouble becoming a missionary. He was the bomb. He told me he was so busy he didn't miss home very much and it made me so happy! He wasn't a depressed, whiny missionary. He was a stud missionary.

Rest of the first year (April 10'-Dec 10'): Nathan moved up in leadership positions very quickly and fell in love with Missouri. I progressed in my schooling and was offered internships that I ended up turning down. I finished out my time at BYU and fell into the swing of having a boyfriend who wasn't really a boyfriend. I felt really excited about my future career, branched out and made new friends, and really started to build a new life.

Beginning of second year (Jan 11'-April 11'): The beginning was ROUGH. Similar start to the first year. I started student teaching which was wonderful but a challenge. I was teaching 45 minutes away, commuting in the winter and I got seasonal depression bbaadd. Then I went through a letter drought. 6 weeks, no letters. I know for some missionaries that is normal. But Nathan was only 2 states away and he had written me every week up until that point so I freaked out. But he made up for it later. He was just a busy man. Can't blame him. Although I do. I came out of my funk in April, just in time to finish student teaching, graduate BYU, get a job, and move out to the big city with my friend Ashley!

Rest of second year (May 11'-December 11'): The rest of the year flew by! And it was some of the happiest memories of my life. I started a summer teaching job and a permanent one in the Fall. I had one of the funnest Summers of my life and even dated a little. Nathan became District Leader and continued kicking butt. He was so strong and so consistent his whole mission. It made things so much easier for me. He also got a release date in late September. His mission president decided to send his whole district home 2 weeks early so they could be home for Christmas and in time to start school. That was probably the most exciting news I had ever received. We both worked hard through the fall and got ready for each other.

We wrote weekly and consistently.
I sent a package every month.
We passed a recorder back and forth.
We had very little miscommunication.
We follow the rules by the book. When his mission president changed the email rule about 8 months into his mission saying ti was now family only, it was hard, but I am proud of the way we knew it was time to sacrifice our love for something greater. Our time would come.

By the time Fall 2011 came was ending, I really had few doubts about how my life was going to end up.

Our Love Story pt11: Saying Goodbye

Previous posts here.

We lived up the last two months together. We got everything he needed and had a few last adventures. Also, this post has a ton of pictures.

One of my favorite nights we ever had together was our last night together in Utah. We were both leaving the next day to spend Christmas with our families and wouldn't be in Utah together again for 2 years. So we took a little trip down memory lane and relieved our last 3 years knowing each and dating in Utah. Most of these pictures will have little significance to the outside observer. But to us, the represent the dating stage of our love story!

We both went home to our families the next day. His in Nevada. Mine in California. I spent a few days with my family then flew out on Christmas night to spend a few days with Nathan and attend his farewell in Nevada. My awesome family came the night before his farewell and it was so fun to have our families meet.
Christmas night!
Before his Farewell.
Our siblings together at the luncheon after the Farewell.
I drove back with my family to California for my cousin's wedding and to celebrate family birthdays after Nathan's farewell. I was able to stay pretty emotionally stable all Christmas break until the night before I was going to fly back to Nevada the second time. I was going to spend a few more days with Nathan and his family, and then we would say goodbye and I would fly back to Utah. I was laying in my bed in my house the night before I was going back to see him and I realized that after I left here, it was time to say goodbye. I wouldn't come back to this house with Nathan for 2 years. After I left my home that next morning, I knew my life was going to be drastically different. I knew I would be drastically different. That's when the tears came and I got a blessing from my dad. I was still a mess as I flew out to Nathan's though. We worked hard to enjoy New Years and the last few days together. There was one night where I couldn't stop crying and then he started crying and so we decided to not even try to sleep and instead to eat peanut butter sandwiches and play video games until we weren't sad anymore.
New Years Eve 2009

I flew back to Utah on Monday, January 4th to start school. The night before we decided to stay in Vegas with Nathan's sister and brother-in-law, Amanda and Brad, so our trip to the airport would be shorter since my flight was ridiculously early. We ate food and hung out with Amanda and Brad until they went to sleep. Because we are idiots, we decided to stay up all night so we wouldn't miss a minute of our time left together. All it really did was make us more emotional and tired. I don't even remember what we did. But at 5am, we were leaving for the airport and I was already crying.
The last picture we took together.
Nathan walked me to security. We kissed and hugged goodbye. He stood and watched as I waited in line. I kept looking back at him and every time my heart would break. I cannot explain the pain I felt that day. It was of course all worth it and I wanted him to go on a mission more than anything, but that doesn't lessen the sting of saying goodbye to the one you love for 2 years. Eck, even just writing about it is making me sick.

I cried on my flight back. Nathan called me when I landed and it made me feel better, but I still couldn't believe I wasn't going to see him again. He was set apart that night, drove out to Utah the next day, and called me before he entered the MTC on Wednesday. And that was it. Boom, bang. He was gone.

To say I was a mess would be an understatement.

Our Love Story pt.10: The Mission Call

previous entries here

On October 28th, 2012, after over a year and a half of dating, Nathan got a large envelop in the mail.

We were expceting it to come that day so I sat in class anxiously looking at my phone. It started buzzing just a few minutes into class and I ran out.

I frantically said,

"Hello?!"

He said, "I think I got a mission call."

"You think?! How are you not sure?"

"I thought a mission call would come in thicker envelope."

"OPEN IT!!"

No grand opening ceremony for us. Nathan had worked too long and too hard to wait any longer. Plus, I am super impatient. So right there on the phone, him standing at his mailbox in Salt Lake, me hididing behind a building on BYU campus, he opened his mission call.

"Oh my gosh, I'm going on a mission. I'm going to St. Louis. Oh my gosh I leave January 6th."

I don't remember much of what we said after that. I rememmber being so shocked that I was so shocked. I knew this was coming but it wasn't real until he had that call. And now it was very real.

We got off the phone and I went back into class. But it was clear after a few minutes that I couldn't stay. I quickly grabbed my things and peaced-out. I got in my car and started driving. And then I started crying. And then I felt selfish for being so sad that he was getting such an amazing opportunity and I cried even harder. I texted my teacher for my class that night and told him I was sick and headed straight out to Salt Lake. It was good for me to see Nathan because his excitement was infectious. I couldn't help but be happy when I saw how happy he was. He called all his family and let them know. Then we made a list of all the things he needed to get before he left. We also made a list of all the things we were going to do to stay close: packages, recorder, letters.. it made me feel better.
Don't mind this disgusting picture. I was crying okay guys!?
Nathan didn't cry a single tear that night. I'm glad he didn't. I cried more than enough for the both of us. His strength is really what got me through those two years. He had faith that he was doing the right thing and everything else would work out. It's one of the things that I love most about him. His perfect faith.

He was leaving in exactly 60 days from that night. So we made plans to live it up until then.

Our Love Story pt9: Quickly skim through the next year

Read previous posts here

I won't drag this story out forever, I promise. I just want it all documented!

Fall 08' brought back school as well as new jobs. I started nannying for a new family and Nathan got a full time job at Salt Lake Legal. Later in the year, I got into BYU starting in January 09'. We had less free time, but just as much fun. Plus, we started making our famous music videos. You're welcome for that.

It was so easy to be in love with Nathan and we became closer and closer every day. The whole next year was filled with adventures, trips, movies, drives, hikes, jokes, Conference, dancing, preparing for a mission, and our first real fight. I still have no idea what it was about. But when it was over we both laughed about how we were kinda proud that we finally had a fight. (Nathan is still so easy going that fights are still few and far-between. It's awesome).

Highlights:
We had our first Halloween.
 We had our first Thanksgiving.
I threw Nathan a 21st birthday party.
We had our first Christmas.
We went to Logandale several times.
We celebrated our one year anniversary in March.
We went to Sacramento.
We frequented the Temple.
This was dinner at The Roof for my 21st birthday after we went to the temple. Best day ever.
We spent a weekend in an Idaho cabin with the Merkley's.
We visited my family again.
I got into the Special Ed Program at BYU.
I quit my nanny job to start teaching preschool.
We had our second Halloween.

Oh yeah, and then Nathan go this one thing called a MISSION CALL.

Our Love Story pt8: The First Summer

Read previous entries here.

You guys, Nathan and I always have fun, but those first few months together were some of the funnest of my entire life. Mostly because we had very little responsibility and tons of free time. I was a part time nanny and he was still working part time at Haagen Dazs. Every other free second was spent with each other. We were inseparable! We went on hikes, had picnics, ate a lot of pizza, watched Hot Rod 9,000 times, talked for hours about our childhood and teenage years, I went to Nevada to meet his family, he went to California to meet mine, we celebrated every anniversary, we went to the Zoo, we explored down town, we met each others friends, we danced to the Hairspray soundtrack at 2am, we went on endless drives all around Utah, we played in Park City, we went to concerts, we ran through the sprinklers, we spent 4th of July at Lake Mead, we watched Flight of the Conchords, we celebrated my 20th birthday, we got to know each other better than we ever could have imagined and thennnn... we fell in love.

Nathan had told me several months ago that he loved me. He told me he didn't mind waiting to hear it back. Just a few weeks into that summer together I knew I loved him. And when I told him, he pounded his chest with his fist and said, "Yes!!! I am so awesome!!!"

We soaked up every bit of each other. He quickly became so much more than my best friend. He was everything to me. We were still very young, but I knew I could see myself marrying this guy.

This summer was also the summer Nathan came fully back to the church. He told me he wanted to serve a mission though he knew he had a little bit of work to do. I knew I would support him no matter what. I also knew I was screwed. There was no way I could break up with this boy I loved so much. I was totally going to send of a missionary.

The idea excited and terrified me all at the same time.

Our Love Story pt7: The Second First Kiss

Read previous entries here.

I had been living in Provo now for about 7 months. It had almost been a year since I met Nathan. I was also freshly dating a boy from one of my classes. We'll call him Vanilla Ice cream.

This boy was a complicated fellow. He kept me hanging on, not because I was in love with him, but because he was a masterful game player and kept me guessing and confused and trying really hard and chasing him. It was stupid. But I was 19.

This boy lived in Salt Lake so after our dates, I would drive to see Nathan and vent my frustrations with Mr. Vanilla Ice Cream to him. He would always make me feel better.

Somewhere in our dates, it came out that I used to work at Haagen Dazs and so we went there to get some ice cream. Nathan was working. Vanilla said he could tell Nathan liked me. I just laughed it off. But apparently, Vanilla liked taking me there because he liked to rub it in Nathan's face that he was with the girl he liked. Little did he know, this was working to his disadvantage. Because the more we went to Haagen Dazs, the more I realized I wanted to be with the guy scooping me ice cream instead of the guy buying me the ice cream. He wasn't as smooth as he thought. He also called Nathan "spanky the ice cream man" and thought he was super funny.

On March 7th 2007, I was in Salt Lake at class having a crummy day. Vanilla Ice Cream made a point to tell me, "I hope you don't think we exclusive, because I am dating other girls too." (Don't worry, I found out later that he wasn't. Just another one of his games). Of course I knew we weren't exclusive, but saying it like that just made me feel so stupid and unwanted. And then, I locked my keys in my car. I was grumpy. But a few of us old Haagen Dazs workers decided to meet there at lunch for a mini-reunion. Nathan of course came and we all had a lot of fun.

I am not sure why I said it or what made me decide it was finally time, but I told Nathan about how my friend was taking me back to Salt Lake later that afternoon so I could bring my spare key and drive my car back home. I asked if he wanted to go out with me that night. He smiled and said yes.

A few hours later I was back at his door. I remember very little of what we did that night, except for one thing. I was sitting on his bed and he was standing next to it. I told him how Vanilla Ice Cream was driving me crazy and how I really didn't even like him and that I just wanted to be with a nice guy. He was smiling the whole time like he was making fun of me in my head. I finally looked at him and said, "What?!" And then he kissed me. Our second first kiss. And I didn't cry this time.

Not one single tear.

Our Love Story pt.6: The Fight and The Reconciliation

Part One
Part Two
Part Three
Part Four
Part Five

I made it back to Utah.
I moved in with some awesome roommates and started to get really excited to be living in Provo. I knew I needed to go see Nathan. I was excited and still mad, but one day Jenna and I deicded to head into Salt Lake to visit Haagen Dazs and to see Nathan.

He was so excited to see me that it made me even more mad. Why did he want to see me? He had blown me off the end of the summer and had dated someone else? I was annoyed.

For the next few weeks he texted often and wanted to get together. I was in Salt Lake twice a week but never went to see him after that first time. I could tell he was starting to get hurt feelings, but I was too proud. I had resolved not to date him!

Things came to a head on day at school when he finally texted me and asked me straight up about what was going on. After a texting conversation going no where, he called me and I left class to answer.

Now I don't remember exactly how the conversation went. But I do remember when I yelled. I was in the girls bathroom all alone and I yelled at him. He wanted to know why we weren't even going to try to date and I let him have it. All the pain built up from the end of the summer came spilling out and I told him we would never, ever date. I remember how sad he was and how apologetic he was. He told me about the broken phone. (Months later he even showed it to me, in case I was doubting haha). He explained that he didn't really "date" this other girl. Just took her out a few times then never called her again. He was mostly just trying to make me a little bit jealous by mentioning her. But it was kinda too late. I was stubborn and upset. We ended the phone call. I was really sad.

But that was the first time I learned of Nathan's forgiving nature. He would show me this many times throughout our relationship, but after a few days, we were friends again. And we were texting every day and talking on the phone most nights. He visited me a few times and I visited him too. We took a trip to temple square to see the lights at Christmas. I learned he was struggling with the church and hadn't been very much since he had moved out to Utah. We had good talks. We helped each other through hard things. He started going back to church. Right before Christmas he told me he loved me again. I told him I wasn't ready.

I dated quite a bit. He waited patiently. He tells me now that even though he wanted to murder every boy I dated or kissed, he knew I was just fooling around and when the time was right, I would come back to him.

The time was almost right.

Our Love Story pt5: The Summer Apart

Part One
Part Two
Part Three
Part Four

I moved home for the Summer and left sweet Nathan behind. But not really. We talked every day. Texted all day. Talked on the phone all night. It was so easy to talk to him. I was so happy to just be apart of his life. He was like sunshine in the sadness that has engulfed me the past few months. He talked about taking a trip out to see me. I got my hopes really high. One night, after getting of the phone, he sent me a text.

Nathan: I love you.
Me: What does that mean?
Nathan: I don't know right now.

Needless to say, we were both confused. The summer flew by quickly. I was very busy and enjoying the time, but I still missed Nathan. We talked daily until the last month or so, where I suddenly stopped hearing from him. I let myself think he gave up. I started giving up. I let my heart wander a bit. I started writing a missionary and went on a few dates. A few days before I was set to return to Utah, I finally got a hold of Nathan.

(This is where Nathan is the dumb one in our story. He broke his phone and didn't have the money to replace it. But did he tell me that? Nope. He just kinda acted like us not talking for so long was a normal thing. No big deal. Dummy).

We talked about me coming back and he was so excited, even though I would be living in Provo instead of in Salt Lake again. I wanted to bring up the whole no communication for weeks things, but who was I to say anything. I was the one who wanted to be "just friends." And he never gave me the excuse, until months later. So I was kinda hurt. And then he let it slip that he had kinda been dating someone. And then I was REALLY hurt. And I decided I was not going to date him at all when I got back.

That was my resolve.
And I was sticking to it.

Our Love Story pt4: Kaitlin is an a-hole

Part One
Part Two
Part Three

SO after the sad first kiss, Nathan came over the next day and being the stupid girl I am, we kissed some more. I liked kissing Nathan. But it also made me sad because I was clearly not over old boyfriend. He sent me a message on facebook inquiring about our relationship status. A few days later we had a talk. THE talk. Where I told him I just wanted to be friends. But he doesn't give up very easily.
We continued to be friends but I was still heartbroken AND moving home for the summer in a matter of weeks. A relationship was a terrible idea. Nevertheless, I was a big jerk. I continually led him on. Flirting and hinting at things and we talked on the phone every single night. I still liked him, but I was stupid. There was one VERY sad night in which I invited him and another guy friend out to a party with me and some girlfriends. I ditched him the whole night and was super rude. Finally him and our friend left. A few hours later when I wanted to go home but my ride didn't want to, who did I call? Yep, Nathan. And he came and picked Jenna and me up at midnight and dropped us at home and was so sweet like I had never done anything to him. I don't deserve that man.

But here's the worst story. The one that still makes me cringe a little bit and Nathan loves telling it to make me sound evil.

It was my last day in Salt Lake. Nathan and I had known each other for about a month and a half. He asked if he could take me out for lunch that day and I said yes. We went to The Greek which is a cute place down town and then he took me to the rooftop of the Library which is beautiful and covered with gardens and has an amazing view. We got to the top and he smiled at me and asked if he could hold my hand. YOU GUYS. I said NO. I flat out told him no. When he was quiet I launched into my "we are just friends" speech that was no backed up well by evidence considering I was giving him every reason to believe I was in love with him. Which I almost was. But I wouldn't know that for a long time. Basically, I was a huge jerk.

He was quiet but still nice the rest of the date and he took me home and hugged me goodbye. I had just shattered his entire universe. I was an a-hole.
we both look terrible in this picture, but it's up on top of the library. moments after I shot down the hand-holding.
That night Jenna's and my ride to the airport fell through. We had no way of getting to our flight home the next day. Guess who I called? Guess who was so excited to be "the last person in Utah to say goodbye to me"? Guess who borrowed his roommate's car and went in late to work? Nathan. Seriously you guys. Could I be any meaner?

He carried our bags and walked us to security. I hugged him goodbye and was so sad but pretended I wasn't. I wondered what would happen to me and this boy in the future.

Our Love Story pt3: The First Kiss

Part One
Part Two

So after the initial date we flirted a ton at work and became better friends. After work one night, Nathan invited a few people over to his house to watch a movie. I was pretty excited.
We rode the Trax over and when we got there, he made sure he got a spot by me. I was all butterfly-y inside.
We started the movie and I put my hand where it could easily be held if it wanted to. Which it did. But Nathan was cautious. Like.. OVERLY cautions. To this day it still makes me laugh. He seriously inched one finger over at a time. He said he was giving me a chance to pull away. But I didn't. And after 20 minutes of the finger inching, in finally just reached over and held his hand. And it was perfect. But the conflicting feelings inside me were going haywire. Here was this new, sweet guy who I really liked. But I was nowhere near over my high school boyfriend of 2 years. Not to mention, he messed me up pretty bad and I hadn't even had a second to heal. He was still around too. Always calling and texting. I felt like I couldn't escape him and dragging Nathan into this mess would be messy. Very messy.
Nathan offered to drive Jenna and I home since we didn't have cars. He didn't have one either, but he had an awesome, Asian roommate named Shin who let us borrow his. Guys, his name was Shin. And he was so funny. I wish I could hear his accent again. Anywaayyysss. When we pulled up to the hotel Jenna masterfully jumped out leaving us two alone. We went in for a hug and when we stared to pull back, he pulled me in for my first first kiss in years. I smiled, said goodnight and ran upstairs.
I burst into the room, threw myself on the bed, and started balling.
Full hysterics guys. Not really the best thing to do after your future husband kisses you for the first time.
I remember Jenna asked, "did he kiss you?" When I nodded my head she said, "how was it?"
The only thing I could say was, "different." And then I cried harder.

Super depressing first kiss story right?
Oh just wait.
It gets a whole lot worse before it gets any better.

Our Love Story pt2: The First Date.. kinda

Part One

So last we left off, Nathan got my phone number. And then he never called me.

Okay, let me put this into perspective because I tend to be dramatic. Only 4 days had passed. But I was impatient. So one night I went in when I knew he was working and he explained to me that he didn't have a cell phone yet. So he was off the hook. Kinda. Then he asked me to go to the movies that night. I was so excited! A real date! I ran home to change then met him outside the theatre. We were going to see Blades of Glory and I was very excited to see he shared my stupid sense of humor.

As we walked into the theater, he let one small detail slip..
"Oh by the way.. my brother, roommate and cousin are here too.."
So it wasn't a date. At least not a very good one. (His brother, Austin, to this day is very proud that he joined us on our first date). But even so, it was a great night. The movie was hilarious and I liked being around Nathan.
When it was time to go, we stood at the escalators and made awkward goodbye talk. Then he reached in for the almost-but-not-quite-one-armed-full-frontal hug. And it was weird. But I was still so ecstatic to be out with a nice boy that I practically skipped back to my dorm room. I called my mom and gushed. I was very happy.

But there was still something eating at me.
Something called "the crazy ex boyfriend."

Our Love Story pt1: The Begining

I love love stories. I love hearing how people met and fell in love. I love love! I have decided to document the different phases of our love story because it's my favorite one! (Although I may be biased). So I'll start from the beginning. Ah, yes. Haagen Dazs.

It was March of 2007. I was 18 years old, a freshman at LDSBC, living in the dorms, and had just recently ended a very bad relationship with my high school boyfriend. I had bright blonde hair, I missed California something fierce, and I was pretty heartbroken to say the least. This breakup was not clean, it was dragging on and on. It was.. just.. yucky. Yes, yucky.
I wanted to get a small job. I didn't have much time with school and I didn't have a car so I decided the Gateway would be a good place to work because I could walk there. I applied at a few places and got called for an interview at Bath and Body Works. I was super excited! I did great the first interview and they said there would be a second. But a few days before that interview, fate stepped in.
I was rooming with previously mentioned BFF Jenna and she wanted to visit some guy she thought was hot at work. He worked at Haagen Dazs at the Gateway, but she didn't want to go alone. I was so grumpy and did not want to go with her at all. But she begged so I went. Very begrudgingly.
We walked in and were making small talk with this guy. (Ps. His name is Matt and he turned out to be CRAZY!) He talked about how easy the job was and I jokingly said, "Are you guys hiring?" And he said, "Let me check!" I was surprised because it really was a joke but before I knew it his boss was out front and he was giving me an application and I was filling it out and handing it back to him.
The next day, a few hours before the Bath and Body Works interview, Haagen Dazs called and said I could have the job if I wanted it. I sat on the phone for a second and thought about it. I had really been excited about the other job, but something about Haagen Dazs felt right. So I agreed and felt so freaking happy. I knew I made the right decision.
My job at Haagen Dazs was a light in my life. Having a controlling boyfriend cut me off from making new friends so Jenna and I were pretty isolated. She started working there sometimes too and we made a lot of friends. I loved working there. Guys, I would eat ice cream for breakfast. And it was awesome.
Jenna and I at work
On March 7, my coworker and super awesome friend Bree told me there was a new boy training and he seemed pretty nice. When I got there I saw him in the back and went to introduce myself. I said something about how awesome this job was and he mumbled some response and I had no idea what he was saying. I thought he either a). was a weirdy or b). hated me. (He claims it was because he thought I was hot. I think it's because my bleached hair blinded him).
After that, I didn't see him for a few days. One morning my friend Travis and I were opening the store. Few people want ice cream at 10am in the winter (except for me) so the store was pretty dead. Then a boy comes walking toward the store. I remember the next few minutes of my life vividly.
Travis: Isn't that the new guy?
Me: Yeah I think so. He isn't working today..
Travis: I bet you anything he is going to get your number.
Me: Shut up.
Nathan came into the store. We made small talk. And then, he asked for my number. This was the first guy to hit on me since the break up and I was pretty dang excited. I wrote my number on a Haagen Dazs napkin and we said goodbye.

And then.. he didn't call.
More on that another day :)
