Halloween's Greatest Hits

This Halloween I am behind he scenes passing out candy. (Seriously, when did I become so old??)
But I wanted to look back on some awesome Halloween's of the past. I wish I had more of my old pictures on my laptop. We will have to settle for just a few.

Pretty sure this was 7th grade. Jenna and I dressed up like thing 1 and thing 2.. but apparently we had no idea what they looked like. Because.. we look nothing like them.
In 8th grade we continued on the tradition of not looking anything like the Dr Suess characters we pretended to be. Blue hair? What? And look at all those braces!!

Junior year there were no costumes. But there was a now famous trip to Disneyland.

Sophomore year of college. There were a million stupid Provo parties going on. Instead, we dressed up like crazy people, ate a lot of junk food, drove all around, and played at Walmart. Seriously, one of the funnest nights of my life. Miss my 112 lovers.

Junior year of college was our first Halloween as a couple! We traveled to Logandale for the Merkley family Halloween party. I was Hannah Montana. And Nathan was.. a mermaid warrior. Yep. He put on a lot of clothes and called himself that.

Halloween 09' was 2 days after Nathan got his Mission Call, we homemade our costumes, and we threw a Halloween party for our friends. It's was crazy but so fun!!

Halloween 2010 was my first one without Nathan. I went to Logandale for the Merkley party anyway! I was a flapper and yes, I took a picture with his Mission picture. Sue me!

I love Halloween :)
And I am perfectly happy to pass out candy to the sweet kids in our building.
And eat all the leftovers.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

This week accodring to iPhone

Words are boring.
Low-quality pictures are not.

Got my ballot in the mail! All I could think about was Harry Potter though as I read those red words.

Speaking of Harry Potter, we are proud owners of all 8 movies :)

Fall is so amazing. I am going to really miss our Fall walks as the weather cools down.

This little beauty is an excel file called "donut of misery." A military wife made it to count down to when her husband would be home. I used it when Nathan was on his mission and wanted to do one for the baby too! But donut of misery is depressing. Donut of baby is happy. So I just changes a few things around :)

I love our friendship. We truly are soulmates.

Hard to tell, but I drove to work in a BLIZZARD on Wednesday. Or Thursday. Can't remember which day. Anyway, it sucked.

I feel okay sharing this because pretty much only girls read my blog. Besides my dad. And if this grosses you out then stop reading my blog! But guys, had to go buy a new bra. I have NEVER been a D before. It kinda freaks me out.

Obsessed with these. And love that there is so little sugar!

Another love of mine. Jason's Deli and their mini ice cream cones.

Mother Rumpis sent us a package full of baby clothes!!! It was so exciting! And the card cracks me up.

Amanda sent a Halloween package with these cute ghostie feet :) Love my nephews!

First pictures with our baby after our ultrasound on Monday! Baby is currently the size of a kumquat. Neither of us had any idea what size that actually was. Also, pick a dumber name for a fruit. Seriously guys.

Our Love Story pt2: The First Date.. kinda

Part One

So last we left off, Nathan got my phone number. And then he never called me.

Okay, let me put this into perspective because I tend to be dramatic. Only 4 days had passed. But I was impatient. So one night I went in when I knew he was working and he explained to me that he didn't have a cell phone yet. So he was off the hook. Kinda. Then he asked me to go to the movies that night. I was so excited! A real date! I ran home to change then met him outside the theatre. We were going to see Blades of Glory and I was very excited to see he shared my stupid sense of humor.

As we walked into the theater, he let one small detail slip..
"Oh by the way.. my brother, roommate and cousin are here too.."
So it wasn't a date. At least not a very good one. (His brother, Austin, to this day is very proud that he joined us on our first date). But even so, it was a great night. The movie was hilarious and I liked being around Nathan.
When it was time to go, we stood at the escalators and made awkward goodbye talk. Then he reached in for the almost-but-not-quite-one-armed-full-frontal hug. And it was weird. But I was still so ecstatic to be out with a nice boy that I practically skipped back to my dorm room. I called my mom and gushed. I was very happy.

But there was still something eating at me.
Something called "the crazy ex boyfriend."

Early Wednesday Morning Thoughts While Waiting For My Students To Come Barging In..

+ This winter weather better be a fluke. It's not even November yet!!
+ I complain about winter but I love wearing sweaters and boots. It's a very conflicting relationship we have.
+ Can I tell you how nice it is to have my secret out??? Now I don't have to suck my gut in! I can let it all hang out and blame it on the baby, not the pizza I ate last night.
+ I let out a ton of hints on the blog if you didn't notice. I know a bunch of people did because they guessed I was pregnant before I told them haha. My blog is where I spill all my thoughts. SOO hard to have a filter!
+ Now I can finally tell you that I have been a sick, emotional, exhausted mess for the past 5 weeks. It's terrible. But I have an awesome husband who appeases my every need. So yeah, it's wonderful.
+ All of these last bullets have been about me being pregnant. Can you tell I'm excited?
+I had a substitute the other day and she left me notes about how class went. Then she said, "PS. I think you have a problem with silver fish behind your desk. I had to kill a ton!" So I googled silver fish and had a heart attack because they are the ugliest bugs I have ever seen. But then I thought it was super weird because I have been in this classroom for a year and a half now and never seen a single one. I searched around and saw nothing and haven't seen a single one since. I then researched them and found that they live in dark, wet, humid places. Um.. My classroom is freezing year round. I live in Utah, the driest climate in the land. It's not dark in here. Even at night they have one light left on in the classroom. They feed off bacteria and my school is incredibly, impeccably clean. I have asked other teachers and they have never seen them. So I have come to two conclusions. 1. She imagined them and is insane. 2. She is really gross and brought them here with her.
+ I want a tootsie roll super bad right now.
+ Someone just told me it's snowing. WAAAAT??
+ It's amazing how students seem to think that "12 point font" means 28 point font.
+ The water at my school tastes funny. Like, the water from our water cooler. It tastes like plastic.
+First Quarter ends next Friday. I can't believe how fast this school year is going.
+ I am so excited for the Holidays I can barely stand it!! I am over Halloween at this point. (Nathan has school until 930 that night. Lame). But seriously. Thanksgiving in Idaho with all the Merkley's! Christmas and New Years in California with all my family!! I seriously cannot wait!
+ I don't want a tootsie roll anymore

Yep, I am pregnant.

This little bundle of joy will be joining us mid-May.
And we could not be happier :)

Our Love Story pt1: The Begining

I love love stories. I love hearing how people met and fell in love. I love love! I have decided to document the different phases of our love story because it's my favorite one! (Although I may be biased). So I'll start from the beginning. Ah, yes. Haagen Dazs.

It was March of 2007. I was 18 years old, a freshman at LDSBC, living in the dorms, and had just recently ended a very bad relationship with my high school boyfriend. I had bright blonde hair, I missed California something fierce, and I was pretty heartbroken to say the least. This breakup was not clean, it was dragging on and on. It was.. just.. yucky. Yes, yucky.
I wanted to get a small job. I didn't have much time with school and I didn't have a car so I decided the Gateway would be a good place to work because I could walk there. I applied at a few places and got called for an interview at Bath and Body Works. I was super excited! I did great the first interview and they said there would be a second. But a few days before that interview, fate stepped in.
I was rooming with previously mentioned BFF Jenna and she wanted to visit some guy she thought was hot at work. He worked at Haagen Dazs at the Gateway, but she didn't want to go alone. I was so grumpy and did not want to go with her at all. But she begged so I went. Very begrudgingly.
We walked in and were making small talk with this guy. (Ps. His name is Matt and he turned out to be CRAZY!) He talked about how easy the job was and I jokingly said, "Are you guys hiring?" And he said, "Let me check!" I was surprised because it really was a joke but before I knew it his boss was out front and he was giving me an application and I was filling it out and handing it back to him.
The next day, a few hours before the Bath and Body Works interview, Haagen Dazs called and said I could have the job if I wanted it. I sat on the phone for a second and thought about it. I had really been excited about the other job, but something about Haagen Dazs felt right. So I agreed and felt so freaking happy. I knew I made the right decision.
My job at Haagen Dazs was a light in my life. Having a controlling boyfriend cut me off from making new friends so Jenna and I were pretty isolated. She started working there sometimes too and we made a lot of friends. I loved working there. Guys, I would eat ice cream for breakfast. And it was awesome.
Jenna and I at work
On March 7, my coworker and super awesome friend Bree told me there was a new boy training and he seemed pretty nice. When I got there I saw him in the back and went to introduce myself. I said something about how awesome this job was and he mumbled some response and I had no idea what he was saying. I thought he either a). was a weirdy or b). hated me. (He claims it was because he thought I was hot. I think it's because my bleached hair blinded him).
After that, I didn't see him for a few days. One morning my friend Travis and I were opening the store. Few people want ice cream at 10am in the winter (except for me) so the store was pretty dead. Then a boy comes walking toward the store. I remember the next few minutes of my life vividly.
Travis: Isn't that the new guy?
Me: Yeah I think so. He isn't working today..
Travis: I bet you anything he is going to get your number.
Me: Shut up.
Nathan came into the store. We made small talk. And then, he asked for my number. This was the first guy to hit on me since the break up and I was pretty dang excited. I wrote my number on a Haagen Dazs napkin and we said goodbye.

And then.. he didn't call.
More on that another day :)

wedding bells

Thursday night, this handsome man and I headed up to Idaho Falls for a special event! We stayed in a hotel right across the street from the beautiful temple and they even had a free breakfast where weird people stared at us while we made our waffles. I kinda fell in love with Idaho Falls. It's adorable! And they had a very conveniently laced Walmart where I could purchase shoes last minute because maybe I forgot mine.
Anyways. We were there because Ian and Melissa got married!!!!!
It was a beautiful sealing and brought back special memories of my own sealing and made me cry with happiness for these two! We first met Melissa this summer. On our way home from that adventure, I turned to Nathan and said, "He is going to marry her. And I like it." I am basically a fortune teller!
Ian was one of Nathan's companions and best friends from his mission. He and I got to know each other well through the recorder I would send to Nathan and I also got to hang out with him a few times before Nathan came home. He is an awesome guy. Those boys up there are some more of Nathan's mission buddies who I love. It's so fun to hang out with all these guys!
They're just perfect for each other and it was a perfect day! So glad we got to join in. Congrats again you guys! We love you!!

I know funny people

As you know from previous posts, I like quote books. And they are super easy to keep if you have an iPhone. Here are just a few of my favorite things that a few of my favorite people say to me.

Whenever there is a cheesy joke to be told, Whitney is there! (PS. Whit I just realized I never changed your last name! For Shame!)

Whenever I say stupid things, she just goes along with it. Most people would tell me to shut up. Jessi shouts for joy.

Katie and I send each other a lot of pictures.

If only you understood the magic of that statue. It's magical powers helped us survive our freshman year.

Sometimes my dad texts me messages from my cat.

I didn't save the text but I did save the picture. One day my co-worker, Brady, sent me and Kimese this picture telling us how cute it was to see all our cars parked next to each other. Yes Brady, it's very cute.

My big brother LOVES high school musical.

I love group messages with my mom and sisters. So many important issues to discuss!

Same conversation.. the next two go together

Autumn and I discussing movies and what to name our future children.

I struggled with this one. I tried to just black out my address so no internet creepies would stalk me, but then I accidentally drew a blue line at the bottom of the message. But basically, Amanda is trying to kill me.

Deep stuff you guys

He loves me so much.

Great work, Brad.

Seriously guys. My sisters, my mom and I discuss the hard hitting issues. We are also terrible people.

This message still makes me laugh. We want something warm? Does that not sound weird to you guys? I laughed forever.

Last one is not a text, but it's pretty awesome. I emailed my parentes the results from my teaching observations with the subject, "I am the bomb!" This is what my dad emailed back.
