For Labor Day we kinda decided last minute to head down to St. George. We just wanted to get out of the city. We found a pretty good deal on a nice hotel and headed down with no real plan for the weekend, which is a happy feeling.
We slept in Saturday and then got ready and got in the car and explored St. George a little bit.
Then we realized we were only an hour from Logandale and we hadn't been there forever and Amanda and Brad just happened to be moving back there that very day. And we drove an hour south. We did our little Logandale tour that I talked about in the last post. My favorite part was hanging out at Logandale Park, where we reunited after Nathan's mission. Gooooood times people.

Then we helped Brad and Amanda move in! Correction, Nathan helped Brad move stuff. Amanda and I talked and played with my perfect nephews.
We brought them a little housewarming present with toys in it for the boys. There were some plastic handcuffs and a plastic gun and Clark pulled them out and starred at them and said very seriously, "Wow. I like these." It was awesome. I love these little guys so much.
We stayed and talked for hours and headed back to St. George late that night in a gigantic wind and lightning storm. It was terrifyingly cool.
The next day we slept in way too late and then ate and watched Netflix in bed for a large majority of the day. We knew we needed to get out of the hotel room, mostly just so the maid would clean up after us. We decided to go dinosaur footprint hunting. There's a few places in St. George but we didn't want to pay since it was a Sunday and we are really cheap. So we found a place way out in the middle of no where that was free and you just wandered out and looked for some one the 400 dinosaur prints out in that area. The directions were vague and according to google maps, we were not even driving on a road. It seemed like forever of dirt roads and no one else in sight and I was getting worried when we finally found a sign and what looked like a fenced off place for cars to park. We got out and wandered off into the desert and found a bunch of cool prints! And it was gorgeous. And we were the only humans in sight. It was insanely hot though.
We spent a while at the temple too. I love the St. George temple. So much.
We watched "Now You See Me" in our room that night and it was reallllyyy good. I didn't know Mark Zuckerburg was a magician.
Labor day we spent the morning at Pioneer Park. It's so cool! Giant red rocks and trails with gorgeous views of the whole city.
Then we went to Swigs. I have heard sooo much about Swigs. People have raved and raved and when I told people we were going to St. George this weekend they all said to go to Swigs. I have had dirty diet coke before, at the Roof Restaurant and at Sonic, but people kept saying Swigs was the best. We pulled up and had to wait in a really long line so I figured they really must be the best. I got a dirty Diet Coke and Nathan got a dirty Dr. Pepper. And.. I was not even slightly impressed. First of all, their "dirty" is just coconut. Most other places to coconut and lime and it's wayyyyy better. Also, there was zero carbonation in our drinks. It was just syrup. So gross. We actually threw them away and got drinks at a gas station. Gotta be honest, I think it's just hype from a trend. Utah tends to get that way. Soda is soda. And this is just normal soda. Their sugar cookies were pretty good though. But yeah, go to Sonic and order your drink with white coconut and lime. Much better.

Then we headed home! And here is my favorite part of the weekend. Well it's sad, but made me happy at the same time. On our way home we were passing through Cedar City on the freeway when people started sweriving and slamming on their breaks. There was a dog in the road. People were honking and swerving around him and driving on. It was immediately clear to me that his leg was broken and my heart sank. Nathan slowed down to a stop and tried guiding him off the freeway but instead of trying to cross the street, he hid in front of our car, poor guy. Now cars were honking at us, jerrrrkss, so I got out of the car, on the freeway. Not super smart. But the dog immeidately lit up and followed me across the lanes to the side of the road. Nathan pulled over and joined us. This poor little guy. He had a collar but all it had was a tag that said he was rabies vaccinated. No owner information. He was dirty and had clearly been on his own for a few weeks. He couldn't move well, but we wanted to be right next to me. He was so sweet and just wanted some love. Nathan called animal control and I got him some water from the car. We sat with him for about twenty minutes before someone came. I felt so sad to say goodbye to him but the women who came to get him said they could fix his poor leg and get him food and cleaned up. Nathan had to lift him into the car because he couldn't jump. I was so glad we were in the right place at the right time. I couldn't believe how rude people were being. Just honking and driving away from a poor, innocent, injured dog. I am glad we got to give him a little comfort.
And that's our trip!
