Month 7

I still can't believe this human has been living outside of me for 7 months.

Sadie is still the bomb, and growing so fast! She still loves rolling over and pushing and scooting herself all over the room. Sometimes I am amazed at how far she can get herself. She gets up on all fours and rocks, and she has just recently started getting into a pushup position and it's hilarious. She is really good and pushing herself backwards, she could move around the entire room backwards, but still isn't quite crawling. At this point, I am very ready for her to crawl. She is super frustrated because she wants to move, but can't, so she gets fussy after just a little while of play time and wants to be moved around and held. I know it will be a whole new mess once she starts crawling, but I know it will make her a lot happier. So I'm all for it.

She is sitting really well, but still sometimes lets herself fall directly backwards. It's so random. Sometimes she will sit perfectly for an hour, and sometimes, she falls back after 30 seconds. We have all hardwood floors in our house, so I get nervous letting her sit without the boppy behind her. Maybe one day, haha.

Solids were a back and forth struggle this month. She was still hating cereal. We tried oatmeal instead, and she seemed to like it for a couple of days, then decided she hated it. Her mouth was Fort Knox. We couldn't get a spoon in at all. We decided to try baby-led weaning and just move straight to solids. She has LOVED it. She shoves everything straight in her mouth, sucks, chews, then gags and spits the food back out. So not much was actually being swallowed. She loves bell peppers, string cheese, and scrambled eggs the most. We are still doing it because she loves it so much and it's good practice, but I wanted her to actually be getting some sustenance from solids. I mixed some sweet potato puree into the baby oatmeal and BAM. She loves it! She chows down like there's no tomorrow. I love it. We have been mixing in different veggie purees and offering her solid food too.

Besides her awesome decision to sleep like crap our entire vacation, homegirl is sleeping like a champ! She is on a regular napping schedule and takes two 2-hour naps a day. Her bedtime has moved up to 8, and she sleeps until 6:30, eats, and sleeps for another hour or so. It's pretty awesome. I have started bringing her to bed with me during that 6:30am feed and I nurse her while we both lay on our sides. Then we both fall back to sleep. It's my favorite thing in the world! She nestles into me and drifts off to sleep and I cannot imagine anything close to heaven than that.

It's not just morning cuddles she gives, she has become more affectionate all around. She is learning how to give kisses, and it's the best. She opens her mouth and sucks right on your face. She also loves to get kisses. She has learned the word "kiss," (not how to say it, haha but what it means) and if she is in the right mood when you say it, she will lean her face up against yours and just let you kiss her all over. She'll usually give you a sloppy one right back too! She reaches up a little when she wants to ve held, and does this panicked cry when she sees me. She definitely wants mommy to hold her most of the time, but it's daddy who makes her laugh the most. She has started saying "mama" over and over again when she wants something, and I don't know if it's a coincidence, or if she has finally picked up on me saying it over and over again. My doctor told me she could start saying it in the next little while, so I started drilling it into her, haha.

Her obsession with Lady is getting more and more intense. She starts to hyperventilate when she first sees her in the morning. She is better at not grabbing chunks of fur, but still loves to grab her tail. Lady is getting more patient and understanding of Sadie, and even rubs up against her sometimes. Sadie has also started an obsession with stuffed animals, her current favorite are her giraffe, her twin unicorn from cousin Ava, and her pink pony from grandma.

She loves blankets and loves to suck on them and rub them all over her face, especially when she's tired. She loves when I hand her a bucket full of small toys, and she can pick them out one-by-one and individually suck on it, then throw it. She is SO curious and wants to hold or touch everything. We are quickly learning to keep things far from her. Like when Nathan set his frozen yogurt down for one second, and her hand was immediately in it. We've already had to begin small baby-proofing things. It amazes me the things she will get ahold of. It's like she knows what she isn't supposed to have. A whole play mat full of toys, but she wiggles over and finds the plastic knife that slid under the couch.

She still loves to hear her own voice and has gotten back into her screaming. It's really funny. She's discovered her tongue and likes to spit and blow raspberries. She also just likes to stick her tongue out and move it around. She loves being outside and could sit and run her hands through the grass forever. Clapping and yelling, "Yay!!!" will always get a smile out of her. She loves to fake cough, and thinks it's hilarious when we fake cough. Or fake laugh. She loves being tossed into the air. She loves to play pattycake, but not when you make her clap her hands. She wants you to clap your hands, and she will just hold onto your hands. She likes to watch TV, but only for 10 minutes at a time. Daniel the Tiger and Veggie Tales are the ones currently holding her interest. She finally understands peek-a-boo, and she thinks it's hilarious.

We finally moved her out of our bedroom and into her nursery. You guys, this was really hard for me!! I still feel like our room is empty without her. I hate that her nursery is so far away from us, but I like that she's in the back of the house, and not by the front door like we are. I miss her. But, I will admit it is really nice. I like having our room back and not having to sneak in there when it's time to go to sleep. It's easier to let her fuss and cry a little to fall back asleep when she isn't in the same room. It's also fun to finally be using our nursery for real. She has always napped in there every day, but it wasn't the same. I like having her in there now. I'll adjust and not be such a baby.

She got a big-girl carseat as she quickly outgrew her infant one, and she looks so dang cute in it! She likes it much better because she can sit forward. She hates to be leaned back. It's fun now that she stays awake in the car. She enjoys rides. She just stares out the window with her giant eyes, or plays with toys.

I could probably just talk and talk about her forever, so I will wrap up now. We love this little lady!
