The Merkleys: summer life

Once again, so much to say. So here's another update style post. I think this might just have to be the only way I blog.

+ After growing it out for several months, Nathan finally cut his hair. Sadie didn't recognize him when he got home. It was sad and hilarious.

+I babysat my landlord's cute grandson for a couple weeks during the day. Sadie was obsessed with him, as you can tell.

+We meet Nathan for lunch downtown a couple times a week. I love it!! We usually eat at a park, or at one of the many places to sit downtown.

+Nathan and I watch Jimmy Fallon every night. It's after Sadie has been in bed for a while, I've picked up the house, and Nathan has finished his home work. I love this time together, and we seriously love Jimmy. We have been looking for his ice cream for months, but it's always sold out! I finally found it at Target and we quickly learned why it's always sold out. It's the most delicious thing that has ever happened ever.

+Sadie eats my hair.

+But she's also my best freaking friend and I love spending my whole day with her.

+If we don't go see Nathan for lunch, he always comes home. We like to eat outside. And Sadie is always all like, "Wooaaah it's bright and where are my pants?" Ya know?

+National donut day! As if we needed another excuse to eat a donut.

+We went to dinner with our friends, Justin and Melissa, and Katie joined us for a bit! They just had a sweet little girl, and named her after me because I am such a great person! Just kidding, but we do totally have the same name. We walked around down town after dinner and soaked up the awesomeness that is Salt Lake in the summer.

+We found another park by our house and ate Jimmy John's there one weekend. That's about as exciting as this story gets.

+We rented a carpet cleaner and cleaned our area rug. It was much needed.

+I USED MY SWEING MACHINE FOR THE FIRST TIME. It's true! I needed lots of coaching from my husband (who has used a sewing machine way more times than me), but I made Sadie a bigger zipadee zip! She was way too big for her old one. Her sleeping improved just from getting a bigger one.

+Sundays at church are getting harder and harder. She can crawl, so she doesn't want to be held. And even though its right in the middle of nap time, she won't sleep. And she's really loud, haha. She made her favorite dinosaur noise all during Nathan's testimony on fast Sunday.

+We had lunch with Katie, and visited her new office up in the Church Office Building. She has a pretty sweet view of my favorite city.

+Lady is just being Lady. She sleeps on me every night. She tries to escape through the front door. She is learning to avoid Sadie. And she's still pretty dang cute.

+Swigs selfie. I always send these to Jessica to punish her for leaving us in Utah.

+I went to California for 4 days, which I will blog about later, and we had to leave Nathan behind. It was really fun to come home to him!! We missed him so much. He also had a little surprise for us. He bought us some lawn furniture and lights. Now we can have lunch and dinner out there easier. We also like to go out there after Sadie is asleep, and enjoy the night.

+Sadie has started pulling herself up on anything and anyone, and she is quite proud about it.

+We have mutual every Tuesday night, and once a month we have a combined activity, and get to hang out together. These are my favorite nights. This Tuesday we went to the driving range, and I actually hit the golf ball.

+ More Lady. Just being casual.

+ We love Straws!!!! (The soda shop. Not the object. Although we do like the object. We just don't love it. It's more of a causal relationship).

+So naive. She has no idea that I go to the bathroom while she's bathing.

+We got to have dinner with THE ALLENS!!!!!!! Bree lived in the freshman dorms at LDSBC with me, and worked at Haagen Dazs with Nathan and me. She watched our love grow! Haha. She went on to be my roommate several times as we both moved to Provo and graduated BYU. She is one of my best friends, and lives all the way in freaking Louisiana! But they came for a visit and it was so fun to catch up, and for them to meet Sadie.

+Playing in the City Creek fountains after dinner. Sadie kept touching the water with her hands and it was squirt right into her face.

+AUTUMN AND GREYSON ARE HERE!!!!! Nathan's sister and her soon-to-be-husband live all the way over in New Zealand. We haven't seen them in 3 years!! They are over in the states for a whole month. They stayed with us for the weekend and it was so fun to be with them. It's like they never left! We can't wait for their wedding next week!
