Our Love Story pt3: The First Kiss

Part One
Part Two

So after the initial date we flirted a ton at work and became better friends. After work one night, Nathan invited a few people over to his house to watch a movie. I was pretty excited.
We rode the Trax over and when we got there, he made sure he got a spot by me. I was all butterfly-y inside.
We started the movie and I put my hand where it could easily be held if it wanted to. Which it did. But Nathan was cautious. Like.. OVERLY cautions. To this day it still makes me laugh. He seriously inched one finger over at a time. He said he was giving me a chance to pull away. But I didn't. And after 20 minutes of the finger inching, in finally just reached over and held his hand. And it was perfect. But the conflicting feelings inside me were going haywire. Here was this new, sweet guy who I really liked. But I was nowhere near over my high school boyfriend of 2 years. Not to mention, he messed me up pretty bad and I hadn't even had a second to heal. He was still around too. Always calling and texting. I felt like I couldn't escape him and dragging Nathan into this mess would be messy. Very messy.
Nathan offered to drive Jenna and I home since we didn't have cars. He didn't have one either, but he had an awesome, Asian roommate named Shin who let us borrow his. Guys, his name was Shin. And he was so funny. I wish I could hear his accent again. Anywaayyysss. When we pulled up to the hotel Jenna masterfully jumped out leaving us two alone. We went in for a hug and when we stared to pull back, he pulled me in for my first first kiss in years. I smiled, said goodnight and ran upstairs.
I burst into the room, threw myself on the bed, and started balling.
Full hysterics guys. Not really the best thing to do after your future husband kisses you for the first time.
I remember Jenna asked, "did he kiss you?" When I nodded my head she said, "how was it?"
The only thing I could say was, "different." And then I cried harder.

Super depressing first kiss story right?
Oh just wait.
It gets a whole lot worse before it gets any better.
