June Book

Oh crap.

I finally, finally got to read a book I actually wanted to instead of stupid ones for my class.

I read The Fault in Our Stars.

And it went like this.

I'm not kidding. Be prepared to cry if you decide to read this. But also be prepared for one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. My top 5 favorite books have not changed in years, but this one might just do it.

I read it in one day. I wish I could have stretched it out longer, but I couldn't put the dang thing down! I won't give away any spoilers, I promise. The book is about a bright, witty, hilarious, and depressed young girl named Hazel who will eventually die from the cancer in her lungs. She's a wee bit bitter about her lot in life, and then a boy named Augustus Waters comes along and changes absolutely everything. That's all I'll say about the plot. Because, for reals, you really need to read this book. Mom. Kelsey. Jessica. Amanda. (Basically, my entire blog audience). READ THIS BOOK AND THEN CALL ME SO WE CAN DISCUSS IT!!!

This book is just.. beautiful! I feel like I don't have the proper words. Also, I don't want to over-hype anything. I have the tendency to become obsessed with things. I will tell you that while in know way can I understand cancer and the pains that come with that, this book helped me grieve my own tragedy. I cried and cried and cried, but felt better afterwards. The characters were perfection. There emotions were raw, their pain was palpable. The story was unique and told so eloquently. I've always had beef with Romeo and Juliet and how people think it's such a romantic story, (guys, it's called a freaking tragedy, Romeo and Juliet is NOT ROMANTIC) so these guys will be my new "star crossed lovers." Because despite how much I cried, this is one of the most romantic love stories I have ever read.

Okay I am not going to talk anymore because I don't want to over-hype. Just read it. And enjoy some of my favorite quotes.

"It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you."

"Grief does not change you Hazel, it reveals you."

"That's the thing about pain, it demands to be felt."

“What a slut time is. She screws everybody.”

"Okay? Okay."

Oh gosh, I'm gonna cry again. Go read it!

I'm always looking for something! :) I'm glad you've been having a nice summer! You live in a beautiful place for sure!

  4. I just picked this book up yesterday from Barnes and Noble. It's at the bottom of my "gotta read these books" pile, because I bought the other ones first and I need to start finishing books before picking up another one but anyway! I really hope the book doesn't make me cry. Maybe bring tears to my eye, but I better not cry. I don't think I've cried over a book yet. Oh gosh, what if it's this one?? Anyway, thank you for contributing to my addiction of buying books that I don't necessarily need because I haven't finished the 50 other books that I got for the same reason hahaha!
