If you know my cat, you know she's not a normal cat.
Most cats like to keep to themselves. They are kind of butt heads. They sleep under the bed all day. They hate humans.
Well Lady is obsessed with humans. She wants to be kept company ALL THE TIME.
She is selective in her love and trust of humans, but once she decides to love you, she latches on like a life-sucking leech and won't let go.
Lady loves my husband and I so much, sometimes it's overwhelming.
She follows us from room to room. Snuggles with us every night. Loves to be held and picked up. Give us hugs. (seriously) Yells (basically scream-meowing) at us if we aren't giving her enough attention. Greets us at the door every time we come home and wants to immediately be held. Just not normal cat behavior. Sometimes we think she's half dog.
I love how affectionate and funny she is, but it makes leaving her at home even harder.
We were gone for 5 days (the longest we have ever left her) for Thanksgiving this past week. My friend came in to check in on her several times which was awesome, but I knew we were going to pay for the time away.
If we leave Lady for a trip, she becomes even more needy when we get home.
Here's just a few of the ways she is making us pay for leaving her:
+ When we got home, she followed me around for hours as I unpacked and cleaned and just scream-meowed at me.
+ She would beg to be picked up every few minutes of those first few hours we were home. She still meows to be picked up way more often than usual.
+ When I sit on the couch, she sits right behind me and sometimes kneads my head. It's painful.
+ When I got into the shower the night we got home, she sat on the bathroom floor and meowed until I got out.
+ I woke up to her meowing the next morning when Nathan was in the shower. She was doing the exact same thing to him.
+ She woke us up SEVEN times our first night home.
+ She slept half the night on my chest last night. Literally, on my chest with her head resting on my collar bone.
+ While sleeping on my chest, she would wake up every few hours and lick my face or purr loudly in my ear.
+ At one point while this chest-sleeping was going on, I could feel she was awake and staring at me, so I kept my eyes shut and pretended to be asleep. After a few minutes I felt her touching my hand so I opened my eyes. She was grabbing my hand with both of her paws and trying to bring it to her head. Apparently, she needed to be pet.
+ She wants to sit on my shoulders while I get ready.
+ She loves to play fetch, but now she is bringing me her little fetching toy way too much. She will just drop it at my feet and stare at me. She sends guilt through her eyes.
+ She won't let Nathan and I go to the bathroom without her, or go into a room without her.
Good thing I am just as obsessed with her as she is with me.
Proud crazy cat lady.
Awwwwww Lady. I hope one day to have a cat half as cool as yours.
