My two sisters were making a visit out to our hometown in California to visit their inlaws. They decided to make a trip out of it, and my awesome older sister and her giant stack of southwest points flew Sadie and I out to join them!! She's seriously the best.
After an off month and lots of hormonal breakdowns, this was exactly what I needed. I wouldn't call it a vacation, because 4 kids and few naps are not easy, but it was wonderful. Lots of food, lots of sweet babies, lots of late-night therapy sessions with my sisters, and again.. food.
I quickly learned on our flight out that flying with Sadie is no longer easy. We broke up the flight so that I had a connection, and it was actually really nice. She needed a break off the plane. But the dumb lady at the gate checked my stroller all the way to Orange County, so I didn't have it at my stop in Vegas. My gate was clear across the airport and Sadie is 22 pounds and did not want to be held. It was quite the journey. And I was dripping in sweat by the time I made it to my gate. But Sadie slept the whole second flight so that made up for it.
We got there and had the cutest little welcoming party! Carson kept saying, "Katie. I so excited that Sadie coming." I love my sisters. And I love their babies. It was heaven.
We headed to the spectrum and got lunch. Then we played at the play place. Sadie was in Heaven to be around so many kids. And Ava was basically her babysitter. It was amazing. She took her all around and stopped her from doing anything bad. That girl is something else. Full-fledge babysitter at 6.
Sadie was a little wary of Tanner. Tanner was just happy about everything. He later stole a pickle from her, so I think he knew good things were coming. |

We got back to the apartment (my parents own a condo out there) and played around. We had a delicious feast of McDonalds, watched Daniel Tiger, and had baths. Putting the kids down was nice because then it was just the sisters! And we stayed up way too late.
Taking out her cousins with her dance moves. Poor Tanner. Sadie kinda picked on him. Even though she thought she was being nice, hahaha. |
Jessi and I shared a bed, just like we did basically from the time I was 16 to the night before I got married. It was just like old times! We had the big master bedroom with Tanner on one side of the room, and Sadie in the bathroom, haha. I am so mad I forgot to take a picture! The bathroom is small and barely fit her crib, it was awesome. But it worked. Tanner didn't wake Sadie up when he woke up in the night, and Sadie didn't wake Tanner up when she talked to herself in the morning.
We played around the next morning.
Carson and Sadie spent most of their time playing in front of this mirror. I'd hear them giggling, and I'd walk in to find them just laughing at their own reflections. So vain. |

Then we headed to this ADORABLE park that had a pumpkin path, a kid-friendly "haunted house," a train, kid corn mazes, jump houses.. just about everything. And most of it was free. Best day ever.

I'm obsessed with this picture |
We went to Royals for lunch. Royals is a small, hole-in-the wall place in our home town that I ate at once a week while in high school. IT IS SO GOOD. Literally, my favorite hamburger. More than in-n-out or 5 guys. AND THEY GIVE YOU A DONUT WITH YOUR MEAL. There's just nothing better. Sadie napped while we ate.
Everyone took a nap except Sadie and me. (Thanks Sadie). Then we had another fun night. We stayed up late watching Friends. Just like the old days when dad would tell us to go to bed then secretly sit on the stairs and watch the show too.
Ava reading everyone a bedtime story |
The last day came way too soon. We had a lazy morning. Then we had a crazy lunch where we attempted to take 4 grumpy kids to a sit-down place for lunch. It as awesome. Then we were back on a plane home! On the first flight, we had a whole row to ourselves. AMAZING. Sadie slept the whole second flight.
