Jack's second month

Whoops. You're almost 3 months and I am finally posting your second month post. We were also out of town so I didn't really get good pictures. Oh well. It's the thought that counts. Right?

This month started with you meeting so many people! We were staying in a vacation house with my whole family, and you met your Nana and Papa great, and your great aunt Jill and uncle Robert. As well as your great aunt Beth and great uncle Scott and a handful of great cousins. Yeah, a lot of people. Your Merkley grandparents and Jaden, Sophie, and Thomas came back out too. The month ended with you meeting even more people. We went to Idaho where you met uncle Austin, aunt Amanda, uncle Brad, uncle Shawn, and all your Merkley cousins! Everyone was pretty dang obsessed with you. And who wouldn't be?? Everyone came out to see you be blessed, and it was wonderful. You looked so handsome with your little bowtie. Your daddy gave you a beautiful blessing. I can't wait to see you grow up and fulfill all those promises!

You lost all your hair (except a small strip around the back like a mullet), and you are definitely getting a big head like your sister and me. Sorry about that! You also seem to have a flat back to your head. We think it probably started when you were laying in your hospital bed. I have tried hard to position you different, but you just love to sleep on the back of your head. Speaking of sleeping, yours isn't great, but pretty standard for a newborn. You started the month waking every 2 hours on the dot. By the end you slept your first 7 hour stretch which was AWESOMMEEE.

You breathe so loudly! You snort and snore and it's kinda really cute. Sometimes when you're super hungry, you snort so much you can't latch to nurse. It's funny. It does make you quite a loud sleeper though, which is not always so fun.

You aren't the biggest fan of tummy time, but we're working on it. Your neck is crazy strong, which amazed the doctor at your check up. You rolled over from tummy to back for the first time, and now when we do tummy time, you tend to roll over right away. Show off.

You are almost 11 pounds now. I love that you're getting little rolls and a double chin. I could kiss your chubby cheeks all day long! You love to interact with us. Your eye contact is SO intense. You love to just stare us down. You have started smiling and talking and we love it. You are very alert, and a pretty content baby most of the time. When you aren't content, we just give you your pacifier and you're fine. It's been a lifesaver. It helps you fall asleep when you're restless too.

When we went to Idaho you took your first road trip! You did really well. You were awake for over half of it, which I couldn't believe. You seem to really like the car. You also LOVE to be outside. You are so calm and content anytime we go out there. This makes your sister happy, because she isn't a fan of how lazy I've been since you came, haha. But she is certainly a big fan of you. She is still obsessed. So many kisses and head pats. She is your biggest fan.

I cannot believe 2 months have already come and gone. But I also can't believe we ever lived without you! You are the sweetest addition to our family, and we love you so much!
