He's so oooooollldddd.
Also, this blog post is really long.
You've been warned.
I have always felt bad for Nathan having a Christmas birthday. He says he likes it, but I think it would suck. So I try to make sure he has a special birthday and it's not just a run-on into Christmas. So we celebrated all weekend. Plus Monday.
Friday I picked him up after work and we headed out to a Southern style BBQ place called Famous Dave's. Nathan has been craving good BBQ since he came home from his mission and while he says it's definitely not St. Louis standard, it was pretty dang good. He ordered a giant plate of 3 different kinds of meat and finished it all. We had a fun night sitting at the table and discussing our list of baby names. Maybe we narrowed it down by a lot :)

Saturday I was up at the ungodly hour of 730am. I could have slept in until 8 but I was so excited to give Nathan his present, I could hardly stand it!!! I wrapped presents then ran out to get us some McDoanld's breakfast (super fancy, I know) and then I woke Nathan up. He ate so slowly. I just wanted to give him presents!
Here's the story of Nathan's present. Before Nathan's mission, he had a pretty sweet little music set up. An amazing keyboard he shared with his brother, awesome speakers, recording equipment, nice laptop, and a full drum kit. While he was gone, a lot of that stuff got sold, damaged, or broken. He wants to rebuild his little studio but knows he have bigger expenses coming. What he has wanted more than anything is a keyboard, it's kinda like his music medium. A few months ago we discussed maybe getting it for his birthday and he showed me a bunch of nice ones that were still reasonably priced. I thought about it forever, budgeted for it, and even had his family members chip in. I bought it before Halloween and stored it at my sister's house. Then I played dumb and basically convinced Nathan he wasn't going to get it because we got pregnant. He seemed a little bit sad at first, but quickly got over it.
The first present he unwrapped that morning was a baby key board for our baby. I told him that was as close as he was getting and he laughed. His next present was a jumbo pack of D batteries. He stared at them for a long time and then I told him, "Oh yeah, those are for your last present. It's out in the living room." At this point I think he caught on and he ran out finding his keyboard on the couch. He was still half asleep but so excited! It was a complete surprise to him and he was ecstatic. It was so exciting to surprise him. He deserves it. He has worked so hard there past few months and takes such good care of this crazy baby lady. Plus we will be dirt poor here in a few months, so he better enjoy his last expensive present for the next 18 years!
We headed to a matinee of The Hobit (soooo good). We picked up some cords he needed for the keyboard, I made him some lunch, and he played on his keyboard for about an hour. Then we had to fulfill our callings and head over to the Ward Christmas party to set up. It was a fun little party with great food. Being on the committee was a good experience. I got to read a fun Christmas book to the little kiddies and then Nathan and I set up the Camera and tri-pod and were in charge of getting pictures of the kids with Santa. Some are freaking hilarious. I can't wait to give them to their parents.
I let Nathan play away on his keyboard the rest of the night. It was so fun to see him so excited about music again.
Sunday was another early day off to church. Nathan had to run off to do home teaching but then his birthday weekend continued when he got to choose what we watch. (I swear I'm not usually controlling or anything..) He watched a show on the History channel all about Alien theories and then watched the third Lord of the Rings. I gave him another present of Oatmeal Creme Pies from Little Debbie and he hate half the box for lunch. He is so spoiled. I actually cooked (probably the first time since I got pregnant) and we made no bake cookies. Birthdays seem to revolve around food..
Monday was work so there was a lot less celebrating but I slaved over some Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and gave him permission to eat fast food for lunch. High rollers. At work I had my home room class make him some birthday cards. Some were hilarious. I was dying. That night Jessi and Marshall came over for some cheesecake and Nathan FINALLY got to blow out the candles after days of celebrating. Whew. But we didn't have candles. So I used sparklers.
Happy Birthday to the love of my life!
It's the 5th birthday you have had that I have been blessed to know you and love you.
Can't wait for an eternity more!

Yay, Happy Birthday Nathan! You are such a good wifey. Also, I'm a creeper, because now I've been to your house I can say - hey! I know where that picture was taken!
